How to make a fun Halloween snack board
Here is a step by step guide to make the snack board. The order of building it is flexible. You can make the spiders and bats first if you like.
Step 1 - Prepare Orange Pumpkins
Peel the oranges. Cut the celery stalk into thin 1 inch pieces. Place in the center of the oranges to make pumpkin stems.
Set the pumpkins at the outer edges of the board. Then make the spiders and bats.
Step 2a - Make the Rolo Spiders
Melt the chocolate according to the package.
To make the spiders, cut a few pretzel rods into .25 inch pieces. Turn the rolo upside down and put a small amount of melted chocolate on the base. Put 4 pretzel legs on the chocolate.

Repeat for all rolos. Allow to cool.
Once cooled, turn the rolos back over and put a small amount of chocolate on the back of the candy eyes and put in place.
Step 2b - Make the Oreo Bats
To make the bat oreos, twist apart the cookie and cut the top in half to make wings. Press those halves into the white filling.
Place a small amount of melted chocolate in the center of the cookie. Twist apart another cookie and place the top of the cookie on the melted chocolate/wings. Put a small dab of melted chocolate onto the back of candy eyes and put on the top of the oreo.
Step 3 - Complete the Board
Fill the board by first placing the cheese cubes into curved lines on the board. Fill in with the rest of the bats, spiders, pumpkins, etc.
Tips for the Best Results
- Use Smaller Boards: If you're serving fewer people, consider using a smaller board. It will keep everything looking full and festive.
- Color Scheme: Stick to a Halloween-inspired color scheme with orange, black, and white for a cohesive look.
- Fill Empty Spaces: Don’t leave any empty spaces on your board. Fill in gaps with small treats like M&Ms or fresh veggies.
- Incorporate Larger Items: Use larger items like a skeleton hand or mini pumpkins to add height and dimension to your spooky charcuterie board.
- Goat Cheese and Brie: Add a variety of cheeses like goat cheese or brie for different textures and flavors.
Substitutions and Variations
- Cheese Options: Swap cheddar cubes for goat cheese balls or brie cheese slices. Add cream cheese or cheese ball for more variety.
- Fresh Fruit: Include fresh fruit like banana ghosts or apple slices for a healthier option.
- Sweet Treats: Incorporate crescent rolls, candy corn, or peanut butter cups for a sweet touch.
