Who knew you could make shakes at home? If you have a blender, our recipe for Snickerdoodle Shakes is easy, fun, and delicious. Like having fried ice cream in a drink, this shake is filled with actual cookie chunks and garnished with cinnamon.
Your loved ones will delight in these shakes as a special treat that doesn't require a trip to the local burger joint. Plus - it's a unique flavor you won't find on most menus -- a mix of cookies and cinnamon.
Why This Recipe
Fast. Have a delicious shake ready to serve in five minutes or less. As long as you have a blender, making shakes is fast!
Easy. Throw everything in the blender, whip it up, and add a little garnish. Drinks are served. Making shakes at home is so much easier than you ever imagined, and cheaper than buying them at your local burger joint. Plus, you get to pick your flavor!
Classic Flavor. The cookies add a classic cinnamon flavor to your shake, reminiscent of fried ice cream. If you love Snickerdoodle cookies, you are going to love the flavor of this shake.
Ingredients for the Snickerdoodle Shake
- Vanilla Ice Cream. You could use any ice cream flavor that will play well with Snickerdoodle.
- Milk. Whole milk makes the drink more creamy, but using what you have will work.
- Snickerdoodle Cookies. The fun thing is that this shake starts with a batch of cookies. The next time you make the classic cookie, set five or six aside to make shakes for your family. If you don't have a recipe, use the Betty Crocker mix for a fast and easy solution. For best results, don't overbake your cookies.
- Whipped Cream. For garnish. Buying whipped cream in a can makes this super easy and fun.
- Extra Snickerdoodle Cookies. For optional garnish.
- Ground Cinnamon. For garnish. Go easy because raw cinnamon is not very palatable in large amounts.
Variations and Substitutions
- adding a little almond butter or cashew butter is a great way to turn this into a snickerdoodle protein shake.
How to Make a Snickerdoodle Shake
In your blender, combine ice cream, milk, and cookies. Blend the ingredients until smooth.
Add more liquid as needed.
Pour the mixture into your glasses of choice and top with whipped cream, a sprinkle of cinnamon, and an extra cookie, if desired.
Tips for Best Results
Start with liquids in your blender, then add your ice cream, and then the cookies last. Add more liquid as needed until you get the consistency desired.
Try not to increase the speed on your blender to quickly or you may create a pocket vacuum right up against the blades and nothing will blend. If that happens, you will have to stop the blender, remove the lid, and use a long-handled spoon to break up the vacuum.
Thawing the ice cream slightly can help the blender get everything smooth without adding too much milk.
Want different add-ins? Any cookie will work with the same recipe. You can also use crushed candy bars, M&Ms, Reese's Pieces, chopped-up brownies, or chocolate chips in your shake. The possibilities are endless!
Try making shakes with different flavors of ice cream. Cookies and cream, chocolate, strawberry, or cookie dough are all good choices.
Top off your Snickerdoodle Shake with a drizzle of caramel and chocolate, just as if it were fried ice cream! You'll love the extra touch. You can also layer syrup/ice cream/syrup in the cup for a more indulgent shake.
Make it allergy friendly! You can make this recipe with dairy-free milk and ice cream and gluten-free snickerdoodles for the ultimate decadent allergy-friendly treat.
